Carlsbad Flower Fields

The other day we went to LEGO LAND!!!!!.... and they were closed. What the crap is up with that?! Apparently, on the "off season" they close it on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. But, right next door are the Carlsbad Flower Fields and they are in full bloom. The flowers are SO pretty. I put more pictures of them on my photoblog if you want to see what you are missing out on. The kids really liked it. Carter loved the tractor ride and playground (it really was a great playground) and Addilyn liked being outside and was surprisingly into the flowers. It was completely worth the trip and it's so pathetic that I lived here for so long and never enjoyed these beautiful flowers.

Worst-Mom-Ever Award

I know what you're thinking: "No, Jen, in fact, you are a WONDERFUL mom because you took your children to the happiest place on earth; DISNLEYLAND!"
What if I told you that I actually went to Disneyland with Bryan and my parents and brought the kids back shirts? What if I also told you that while I was there I saw COUNTLESS mothers trying to control out of control kids, cranky kids, and tired babies. Every time I saw one of these moms there was a happy little place in my heart that my kids were far far away from me at home. :)
BUT, there were several times that Bryan and I said how excited we are for the day that the kids are old enough. It was just such a different experience without them. We even went over to California Adventure for a few hours. If you ever go there, you MUST, I repeat, MUST go on Soaring over California. It was seriously like flying. Make sure you sit in the front row. It is one of the most awesome rides in the whole world! Back at Disneyland, we didn't have to wait in any lines longer than 30 minutes. Aside from Indiana Jones, we only waited 5-15 minutes per ride. We had such a blast and one of these days, we'll take the kids with us. :)

Slumber Party!!

While Kel was here with the girls over Easter the kids had a slumber party in Nona and Papa's room. I was surprised that Carter was ok with it... sure enough, about 2:00am he woke up scared and wanted to go sleep in his own room. :)

Sea World!

We have been spending a fair amount of time at Sea World while we have been here. The weather is great and Carter L-O-V-E-S it. We still haven't seen Shamu but that's ok since we got passes. (Right now if you go for even one day you get a pass for free. It's awesome.) We go for about 3 hours and then head home for naps. That's about all Addi can handle. Sorry there's aren't any pictures of animals. I don't really care about taking pictures of them. :) We were at the seals during feeding time so we got 2 things of fish to feed them. It was really cool. They had these little tubes right at Carter's height. You push the fish through them and the seal will grab it on the other side, throw it in the air and catch it again. It amazing and SO much fun for kids because the seals are literally inches from their faces. I think it was Carter's favorite part. That, or the dof-lins.

The San Diego Zoo

Yesterday my dad and I took the kids to the zoo. It was really fun. They have a GREAT children's zoo. It's more than a petting zoo. It's a whole section of animals that aren't scary to kids (wombats and things like that) and the walls are really low so the kids can see in without having to be lifted up by an adult. They also have a petting zoo in this section. So, we spent most of out time there. I would love to take Carter back. It's so fun having a kid old enough that he really LOVES seeing the animals. We have already been to Sea World twice since we have been here, too. (Pictures coming soon.)Addilyn didn't want to play with the goat... :)

Like Father, Like Son

Bryan ALWAYS does this with the milk. I don't know why but it totally grosses me out. I don't care if it's juice or soda or water but, milk? Sick!

Let's Go Fly a Kite

Today was a windy day in little ol' Poway. My dad and Bryan took Carter to Target to get a kite to fly. 6 dollars later they headed to the park with not one but TWO kites. Carter got to pick them out so by the time I showed up with the camera, Bryan had Tigger and Pooh about 75 feet up and my Dad had Spiderman almost as high. Carter loved it, although got a little bored after a while. I think it was frustrating to him that he couldn't hold the string because the wind was a little too strong. He did, however, keep Bryan's sunglasses on the ENTIRE time. Overall, it was really fun and especially sweet for me because Bryan and I both have fond memories of flying kites with our dads when we were little.

Happy Late Anniversary

Bryan and I hit our 5 year mark last month (on March 15th). It was a momentous day... filled with packing and cleaning in preparation for our extended trip to San Diego. We did manage to get a nice dinner our, babysitting compliments of my wonderful mother-in-law. We finally had another dinner out with my parents as babysitters (hey, gotta milk it while you can, right?) to the Melting Pot. While this dinner was NOT, I repeat NOT, on my diet, I went to TOWN! It was A-MAZING. I didn't think to snap a picture of the cheese portion of the meal. I got one of the dinner portion but by the time I remember to take one of the chocolate part, it was G-O-N-E, gone. There was a little left in the fondue pot, which I would have licked out had it not been too hot, by the time I got my camera back out but I couldn't resist snapping a picture of it.

I seriously have the most amazing husband in the world. He loves me so much and I have yet to figure out why. I remember when we were newlyweds my mother-in-law asked me if he was still perfect. My reply was, of course, yes. She asks me every year on our anniversary if he's perfect and my reply has always been, and ALWAYS will be a, enthusiastic YES! Not a day goes by that I don't thank the Lord for my sweet Bryan. I don't know what I did to deserve such an amazing man, but I am so happy to have him. It warms my heart to know that it's too late for him to back out. He's in this for eternity now! :) For those of you who don't know him, I hope that some day you will get the opportunity to meet him. I have no doubt that you will quickly see why I fell desperately in love with him. (Unless the XBox is on, in which case you will only get a muttered, "Hi. Nice to meet you.")

Beauty and the Albino

So, we all know my kids are white, and I am MORE than willing to take complete blame for that. Bryan's family for the most part tans quite nicely. The other day one of my very favorite cousins came over to see us with his adorable wife (he married up!! hehe) and their SUPER cute little Izzy. I told them that I would take some pictures (coming soon to my photo blog). Lisa was concerned because Izzy was "really white" right now. She didn't believe me that Izzy takes after her parents. Neal has AMAZING skin.... nice and TAN (even in the winter) and Lisa is full blown Italian... excuse me, Sicilian. :)
I just had to take some pictures of our girls playing together. They are only 6 weeks apart and I'm sure will be great friends. Neal and Lisa are the best kind of family. They will drop ANYTHING to be at your side when you need them and they make sure they are at every single family event. I hope they know how much my entire family loves them. Plus, Neal's a super brave fire fighter and we ALL love them, right?
Here is a look into Izzy's mind as she first laid eyes on her pale little cousin:"Holy crap! Aunt Jenny wasn't kidding. This chick really IS albino!" (Addilyn responds, "I know, leave me alone. Have you SEEN my mommy's white legs?!?")"Hey mom, check out this girl. She's so stinking white. I kind of like sitting by her because I look really tan.""Woo Hoo! I'm TOTALLY not the whitest one in the family. That's bitchen'!"
